Sad Death (A mystery)

Today I decided to clean out some of the old mums etc from my back yard. Right under my owl box, I found a dead Western Screech Owl. I can't tell how long it has been there. It was hidden in lots of dead flowers etc. It was in an upright position. Slightly decomposed on the ground side. (Stomach). But I could tell it was an owl. I haven't seen any owls since spring. I was in the hospital when they fledged and by the time I got home, they weren't seen again. Till today. I have no idea how it died, but it was directly under the owl box. I'm still weeping. Very sad and unusual death.
