A response to my BBA question.

One person sent an answer, to me, so I'm forwarding it on to you all, FYI.

"It stands for Breeding Bird Atlas. It is the process by which a survey of nationwide breeding birds takes place each year between May and early June. Birders volunteer to cover a specific route, stopping at .25 mile intervals (I think) to listen for singing birds for two minutes or so. All data is compiled to deliver a snapshot of breeding bird fluctuations from year to year."

Since he didn't post it I'll keep him anonymous.  If you want to add to, or correct his definition, please feel free to post it to BirdTalk.  Frankly, I'd never heard ot it before.  Ya learn something new everyday or so.

Matthew.
