Delta birds

We went to the Snow Goose Festival on Saturday and it was a beautiful
day--blue skies and cooperative snow geese. It was a bit odd watching them
land on the ice, though. The weather was so much warmer than the last few
years it almost felt like spring.

Birds of note on the way down the Santaquinn route: golden eagle, great
blue heron, rough-legged hawks, scrub jays, brewer's blackbirds.

Birds at Delta or Clear Lake: great-tailed grackle, common mergansers,
green-winged teal, avocet, marsh wren, shrike, lark sparrow.

Birds on the way home the Nephi route: Three flourescent mountain bluebirds
(by Fool Creek Res.), cinnamon teal, and a beautiful ferruginous hawk at
Leamington.

There were so many ponds off the side of the road on the routes down and
back you may want to schedule some extra time to check them out.
Forty-five species total for the day.
