Common Grackles

We've had common grackles nesting in our Taylorsville neighborhood for the
last two years and every fall they are joined by their raucous friends in
my back yard. Last year they feasted mainly on apples; this year it's the
black-oil sunflower seeds that suit their fancy.
My friend said in the morning it sounds like a junkyard full of metal
pieces scraping together in the wind. I'm sure my non-birding neighbors
are thrilled. I love it--they are beautiful birds.
