Nests in a deciduous tree or in a shrub at a height of 5-10 (0-30) feet, in a platform nest. This species is not a cowbird host. This species is a crustaceovore/carnivore: water ambusher.
  
Habitat: Breeds in Utah in wetlands and agriculture habitats.
