Nests on the ground in a scrape nest. This species is not a cowbird host. During the breeding season, this species is an insectivore: ground gleaner; carnivore: ground hawker. During the non-breeding seasons this species is an omnivore: shoreline scavenger carnivore: coastal beach scavenger omnivore: shoreline scavenger.
  
Habitat: Breeds in Utah in playa and water habitats.
