A PACIFIC LOON was seen at Willard Bay SP on Saturday, 11/04 (MS,m.ob.). The bird was in the southeast part of the bay, and could be seen by looking south from the south side of the marina.
Three PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were seen at BRMBR on Saturday, 11/04 (MS,m.ob.). They were along the east side of the auto-tour loop, about 1 mile south of the entrance to the refuge.
An immature male DICKCISSEL was found dead in a yard in Paradise in southern Cache Valley on Sunday, 11/05 (AMu). It is the first record of Dickcissel in Cache County.
A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was seen visiting a feeder at about 1800 East and 1400 North in Logan on Wednesday, 11/08 (D&SD). The bird is likely to be also seen along a nearby trail which follows a canal.
At least two PACIFIC LOONS have been seen on Hyrum Reservoir, with sightings on Saturday, 11/04, Sunday, 11/05 and Wednesday, 11/08 (m.ob.). Also at Hyrum Reservoir, an OLDSQUAW, a male and a female WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, and a flock of SNOW GEESE were seen on Wednesday, 11/08 (KE,m.obs.).
At the pond at first dam at the mouth of Logan Canyon, a pair of HOODED MERGANSERS and many BARROW'S GOLDENEYES were seen on Wednesday, 11/08 (KE,JR).
The VARIED THRUSH, which was seen at the Fielding-Garr Ranch at Antelope Island SP on 10/29, was seen again on Saturday, 11/04 (BH,m.ob.). The bird was in the brush near the lake to the east of the ranch house.
The first-year female WHITE-WINGED SCOTER seen at FBWMA on 11/03 was still there on Sunday, 11/05. It was again seen on the west side of the western dike road at the first bridge. Also at FBWMA on 11/05, four AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS were seen in the brush near where the entrance road bends west (J&KB).
Along the AIC, another female WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was seen about five miles west of the causeway entrance on Monday, 11/06 (L&PS). A SNOW BUNTING was seen along the AIC on Saturday, 11/04, about halfway across to the island (BH,m.ob).
DUCHESNE COUNTY
Flocks of both GRAY-CROWNED and BLACK ROSY-FINCHES were seen along the access road to the Yellowstone River on Wednesday, 11/08 (BM). The Yellowstone River is on the south slope of the Uintas, east of Moon Lake and north of Duchesne.
A flock of 30-40 GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES was seen in the road cuts along US 191 between Duchesne and Price on Tuesday, 11/07 (KP). They were south of the summit, about 2 miles south of the turnoff to the Avintaquin CG.
About 20 SNOW GEESE were seen on a pond in Fruitland, along US 40 east of Strawberry Reservoir, on Wednesday, 11/08 (BM).
KANE COUNTY
About 50 BLACK ROSY-FINCHES were reported on the shore of Lake Powell, just north of the Utah-Arizona border on Thursday, 11/09 (CL).
MILLARD COUNTY
A VARIED THRUSH was seen in the trees by the administration building at the Intermountain Power Project, north of Delta, on Tuesday, 11/07 (DA). There is no public access to this area.
SALT LAKE COUNTY
A number of good birds were seen in City Creek Canyon on Wednesday, 11/08. A "Red" subspecies FOX SPARROW was seen in the streamside willows about 400 feet above the gate. This may be a first record of this subspecies in Utah. A NORTHERN PYGMY-OWL was seen in the top of the tall evergreen at the gate, and two WINTER WRENS were seen, one about 1/2 mile up the canyon, and the other next to the stream at the Eagle Nest picnic area about 1 1/4 miles up the canyon (AM).
At Decker Lake on Friday, 11/10, 2 AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS were seen near the southwest end of the lake, between the trail and the shore, and 5 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen on the mudflats (JH).
UTAH COUNTY
RED CROSSBILLS were seen in the Provo Cemetery on Tuesday, 11/07 (TR).
Two NORTHERN SHRIKES were seen at the Provo airport on Thursday, 11/09 (RS). An adult was seen along the south extension to the dike, and an immature was seen about 1/4 mile north of the southwest corner.
An AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER was seen in Hurricane Fields on Saturday, 11/04, and again on Sunday, 11/05 (RF,KW). To get to where the bird was seen, from SR 9 in Hurricane, go south on 700 West for about 2 miles, and turn left on 2060 South, follow this road past where it jogs left for about 1.6 miles, and turn right for another 1.2 miles, at which point the road ends near some shallow ponds where the bird was seen.
