SALT LAKE COUNTY

A single LEWIS' WOODPECKER was seen catching insects on the wing at Dimple Dell Park in Sandy on Saturday, 10/7. This location is where several Lewis' Woodpeckers have been reported in the past couple of weeks (JC, TH).


UTAH COUNTY

A large flock of approximately 700 BLACK ROSY-FINCHES was sighted along the Mount Timpanogos Trail on Monday, 10/9. These birds were seen about 5 miles from the Timpooneke Trailhead (TS).


WASATCH COUNTY

On Friday, 10/6, and Saturday, 10/7, two SABINE'S GULLS were seen at Deer Creek Reservoir just east of Deer Creek Island Resort. One of these birds was relocated in the same location on Monday, 10/9 (MW, m. ob.). On Saturday, four COMMON LOONS were seen in the same vicinity (m. ob.).

Also, at Deer Creek Reservoir on Friday the 6th, were two MEW GULLS. These birds were seen near where the Provo River enters the reservoir along with three TUNDRA SWANS. One of the Mew Gulls and the swans were relocated in the same spot on Monday the 9th (MW, J&KB).


WASHINGTON COUNTY

An immature MAGNOLIA WARBLER was seen at Mathis Park in St. George on Wednesday, 10/11. Mathis Park is located along the Santa Clara River directly east of Sunbrook Golf Course (across Dixie Drive). The bird was found in the tamarisk and willow understory on the opposite side of the Santa Clara River across from the parking area. It was on the right side of the trail about 30 meters upstream from the footbridge crossing (RF).
