BOX ELDER COUNTY

An apparent WHIMBREL was seen at BRMBR on Sunday, 03/19 (BO). It was along the east side of the auto-tour loop, just north of the southeast corner.

Other birds seen at BRMBR on Sunday, 03/19 included a number of AMERICAN AVOCETS (BO).

West of Corinne, at least 10,000 SNOW GEESE, including at least 10 "Blue Geese," were seen along with 6 or more ROSS'S GEESE on both Saturday and Sunday, 03/18 and 03/19 (BO).


DAVIS COUNTY Along the AIC, two GREATER SCAUP were seen about 1/4 mile from the east end of the causeway, and a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was seen near the island on Saturday, 03/18 (BH).

Birds seen at FBWMA on Thursday, 03/16, included 50 BALD EAGLES, 6 TREE SWALLOWS, and 2 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS. In the pond at the west end of Glover Lane near FBWMA, DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, 4 TUNDRA SWANS, and AMERICANS AVOCETS were also seen on 03/16 (JVM).

A LINCOLN'S SPARROW was seen at the west end of Clark Lane, north of FBWMA, on Thursday, 03/16 (JVM).

At the Layton Wetlands Preserve, near the west end of Gentile Street in Layton, 2 TUNDRA SWANS, 6 SANDHILL CRANES, 10 TREE SWALLOWS, and 2 SAVANNAH SPARROWS were seen on Tuesday, 03/14 (A&MP,MS).
  


SALT LAKE COUNTY A HARRIS'S SPARROW and an immature GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW were seen coming to a feeder in Murray on Sunday, 03/19 (TS). The feeder is located near the JRP at about 5100 South, close to where an immature Golden-crowned Sparrow was seen on the Salt Lake City CBC.

Several Spring arrivals are being reported in the Salt Lake Valley, including 4 SAVANNAH SPARROWS along the JRP at about 106th South on Sunday, 03/19 (B&TC), and 13 AMERICAN AVOCETS at Decker Lake on Wednesday, 03/15 (JH).
  


SAN JUAN COUNTY On Saturday, 03/18, 10 GUNNISON SAGE GROUSE and several SAGE SPARROWS were seen on private land at Hickman Flats, about 15 miles northeast of Monticello. On the same day, a LINCOLN'S SPARROW was seen at the Hatch Trading Post near Hovenweep NM (MS,YS,DW,others).

Birds seen at Devil's Canyon, between Monticello and Blanding, on Sunday, 03/19, included WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER, WESTERN BLUEBIRD, MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, RED CROSSBILL and EVENING GROSBEAK (MS,YS,others).
  


UINTAH COUNTY A WHOOPING CRANE, part of the recent re-introduction program (as evidenced by leg bands and radio collar), was seen among 17 SANDHILL CRANES at Ouray NWR on Wednesday, 03/15 (MDL).
  
UTAH COUNTY A SWAMP SPARROW was seen near the north end of 4000 West in Lake Shore on Wednesday, 03/22 (CPe). The bird was in the marshy area on the west side of the road.

At Five-mile Pass, west of Fairfield, 5-6 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were seen on Sunday, 03/19 (B&TC).

On Friday, 03/17, several AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS were seen at the north end of 4000 West in Lake Shore, and 2 SANDHILL CRANES were seen in the fields south of Lincoln Beach (J&KBa,MM,CP).

A female WOOD DUCK was seen along the Provo River Parkway, about 1/2 mile upstream from Utah Lake SP, on Friday, 03/17 (WC).


WASHINGTON COUNTY The year's first report of NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS comes from St. George, where they were seen on Monday, 03/13, at Pine View High School (JK).
