BOX ELDER COUNTY

If you still haven't had a chance to see the female NORTHERN PARULA at Willard Bay State Park, you're not too late. The bird continues to be seen in the trees and brush at the north end of the campground. It was reported on Monday, 11/23 (RR) and on Friday, 11/27 (KE,AS). The mixed flock with which it has been foraging also had at least two ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS on Friday, 11/27 (KE,AS).

Also at the campground at Willard Bay SP, a BARN OWL was seen roosting near the base of a tree just northwest of the pond on Friday, 11/27 (KE,AS).


CACHE COUNTY Three BLUE JAYS are reported to be irregular visitors to a feeder near Mack's Park in Smithfield. The feeder is located on the south side of Canyon Road across from the park (RR).

On the pond at First Dam, at the mouth of Logan Canyon, a male and two female HOODED MERGANSERS were seen on Tuesday, 11/24 (JB).


DAVIS COUNTY Along the Antelope Island Causeway, a female BLACK SCOTER and 3 OLDSQUAW were seen on Monday, 11/23 (RR). A female Oldsquaw was also reported from the causeway on Friday, 11/27 (DA,MJ).


MILLARD COUNTY A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in Oak City on Monday, 11/23, (DA).


MORGAN COUNTY A very late HOUSE WREN was seen at the Morgan Wastewater Treatment Plant on Saturday, 11/21 and Monday, 11/23 (AS).


SALT LAKE COUNTY A MERLIN was seen flying over East High School in Salt Lake City on Saturday, 11/28 (MS).

WINTER WRENS continue to be seen in City Creek Canyon. Two wrens were seen at picnic area 6 on Monday, 11/30 (D&MT).


UTAH COUNTY A pair of WOOD DUCKS continue to be seen at Salem Pond, with reports from Monday, 11/23 (CB), and Friday, 11/27 (CC&JVM).

LEWIS' WOODPECKERS have been seen regularly near Salem, with recent reports from Tuesday, 11/24 (NH) and Friday, 11/27 (CC,JVM). To get to the area where theyt were seen, take the road from Salem towards Spanish Fork, turn right (east) at 8800 South, turn right again at the log house, and continue south unitl the road starts to rise. Look in the trees on both sides of the road at this point.

AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS have arrived in Utah this week. Two birds were seen at Powell Slough, on the shores of Utah Lake, on Monday, 11/23, and a small flock of tree sparrows were seen at Swede Lane, west of Springville, on Friday, 11/27 (CP).

A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was seen visiting a feeder in Provo on Monday, 11/23 (MM).

Two CATTLE EGRETS were seen at Utah Lake State Park on Thursday, 11/26 (MLH).


WEBER COUNTY The BLUE JAYS which were visiting a feeder in Pleasant View have not been seen since Saturday, 11/21. A HARRIS' SPARROW was seen visiting the same feeders on Tuesday, 11/24 (IP).

LEWIS' WOODPECKERS have been seen regularly in the trees near the gate on 900 West in Pleasant View (IP). They were reported on Saturday, 11/28 (DJ).

Sixteen AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS were seen along the entrance road from 12th Street to Ogden Bay WMA on Friday, 11/27 (KE,AS).

A MERLIN was seen near Little Mountain on 12th Street west of Ogden on Friday, 11/27 (KE,AS).
