DAVIS COUNTY

The COMMON MOORHEN which has been seen at Farmington Bay WMA for the past month continues to be present. The most recent report is from Sunday, 07/26. Many GREATER YELLOWLEGS were also seen on Sunday, 07/26, at the pond at the end of Glover Lane, west of the Farmington Bay WMA entrance. On Monday, 07/27, about 50 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen at Farmington Bay (JM).

A LEWIS' WOODPECKER was seen in the town of Farmington on Saturday, 08/01 and Sunday, 08/02, in a large, dead cottonwood tree across the street from the house at 1313 West 1800 North. To get there, take US 89 north towards the Cherry Hill Campground, turning left at the Chevron gas station, then immediately left again onto 1800 North. In about 200 yds., there is a church on the right, and then the house at 1313 on the left. The woodpecker has been in the dead tree in the pasture across the street, and on the utility poles along the street (BF).


GARFIELD COUNTY

A GRAY CATBIRD was showing evidence of nesting along Mammoth Creek on Wednesday, 07/22, a rare event in southern Utah (PS).

SALT LAKE COUNTY

A COMMON POORWILL was seen at about 5:00 am along Majestic Oaks Lane in southwest Salt Lake County (DG).

A pair of WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKERS was seen along the Twin Lakes trail in upper Big Cottonwood Canyon on Saturday, 07/25 and Sunday, 07/26. They were in the trees at the first switchback. A WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH was seen at Lake Solitude on Saturday, 07/25 and a RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was found at the same location on Sunday. 07/26 (J&KB).


SAN JUAN COUNTY

An ACORN WOODPECKER was seen from US 191, where it crosses Devil Canyon about 12 miles south of Monticello on Saturday, 08/01. The woodpecker was in the large, dead Ponderosa Pine on the south side of the canyon just east of the highway (MS).

A CASSIN'S KINGBIRD was seen in the "A" loop of the Squaw Flat Campground in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park on Saturday, 08/01 (MS).


UTAH COUNTY

The VAUX'S SWIFTS which are apparently nesting at 100 East and 500 North in Lehi continue to be seen as recently as Monday, 07/27 (JM).

WASATCH COUNTY

A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen on the west side of Strawberry Reservoir, near Haws Point on Tuesday, 07/28 (CP).
