IVORY-BILLED WOODPECKER

Apologies for the abortive message sent earlier. The BIRDNET/TALK
listserv filters apparently stripped out all the relevant info.

The following may be of interest to anyone in the Boston area this week:

Bobby Harrison's 30-year quest to find the Ivory-billed Woodpecker
culminated last year when he and Tim Gallagher of Cornell made the first
confirmed sighting of the bird since 1944. In the course of four more
sightings he managed to catch a split second of the bird's flight on
video - one of only two images of it in the last 60 years.

After a scientific review that lasted a year, the image has been
authenticated and for the first time in public Bobby Harrison plans to
show a frame-by-frame analysis of the video on NOVEMBER 4 at
EXPLORATIONS IN ENVIRONMENTAL IMAGING 2005.

Where: Holiday Inn, Somerville, MA (2 miles north of Boston on I-93)

Hope this goes through OK.
