Peregrine Falcons

Hi Folks -

The story of the falcons made the front page of The Salt Lake Tribune
today. It was a nice article.

Just as the watch crew prepared to leave the site on Wednesday night,
the young falcon flew toward the JSMB. Because it was nearly dark, they
were unable to track her. When Bob Walters showed up at 6:00 a.m. on
Thursday, she was perched on the temple and all was well with her. She
seemed content to rest in the shade and stayed there for many hours
without flying. At some point in the afternoon, she took the first of
several strong short flights. The bad news is she selects some goofy
places to try to land (like on something domed where she can't get her
footing), but the good news is that she seems to be able to make the
necessary corrections.

The bird in rehab (which the newspaper reports as being a male) is
apparently making very slow progress. The jury is still out on him.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring!

Pomera
