Re: [birdnet] R-b Nuthatches (Fri.) & Blue Jay (Wed.)

Matt,

I saw a Red-breasted Nuthatch at Beus Pond yesterday while filling the
Wasatch Audubon feeders. Beus Pond is situated at approximately 4800 feet.
In addition, I've heard reports from friends in Weber and Davis Counties
that they've seen Red-breasted Nuthatches in their yards recently. Other
good place to see nuthatches are in the cemeteries along the Wasatch Front
that have mature conifers.

Here's what Cornell's on-line bird guide says about the R-b Nuthatch's
winter range:

"Resident throughout breeding range. Irruptive movements southward in years
of poor cone production in boreal forest. Some birds move south every year,
especially from most northern populations."

Sounds like you've influenced your wife to become a birder. Good work ;^D.

Kris
