We (14 souls) found the birds directly north
of Leidy Peak this morning at about 8:30am at coordinates 40.7743N 109.8341W
(approx. 11,500 ft). Many thanks to Dennis Shirley for organizing this
successful adventure, which provided a life bird for most of us. We saw at least
10 ptarmigans. No guarantees on whether they'll be at the same location
tomorrow, however. Remember the gallinule :-(
