sharp-shinned and Grosbeak

The Hawk was at our feeders for breakfast again this morning. Only two quail were brave enough to show up. I think the hawk ate one yesterday because I could hear one calling for his mate all day. They flew off with the hawk in pursuit. Since my husband loves those quail, he waved his arms, the hawk veered off and some magpies chased him out of the area. That is one powerful hawk. If you are outside, you can hear the sound of his wings when he takes off.

Half an hour later two Black-headed Grosbeak came over to the feeder. I usually don't see them until July here in Draper.
