Message: Hi Everybody. On Wednesday, January 28th, we went birding on Antelope Island. Thanks to the earlier posting from Jack Binch, we were able to locate the Northern Shrike about a mile from the ranch as was mentioned. We were fortunate in that the bird did fly across the road several times, affording us marvelous views. At one point, it perched in a small clump of rabbit brush in close proximity to the car -- nicest views ever! We observed it from around 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It was near the last gate before the ranch. We hope that this precise location will be helpful to anyone still interested in seeing the shrike. We also saw two Virginia Rails at the ranch and a Prairie Falcon in flight near the restrooms/picnic tables along the beach below the visitor's center.
