Pomarine Jaeger

Sand Hollow Reservoir
Washington County, Utah

(E-mails from Rick Fridell, 25 Apr 2010)

This afternoon (4/25) Rob Dobbs and Meribeth Huizinga found an adult alternate plumaged Pomarine Jaeger at Sand Hollow State Park, Washington Co., UT. We were able to watch the jaeger off and on for a couple hours, however it did a nice job of staying in the middle of the reservoir. I was eventually able to get some diagnostic photos. There has also been a Whimbrel hanging around Sand Hollow from Wednesday (4/22) through at least Saturday (4/24); I didn't see it this afternoon but didn't look closely for shorebird flocks.

Regards,
Rick Fridell
