Harris's Sparrow

22-25 Nov 2007
Spring City, Utah

E-mail from John Stevens  (27 Nov 2007):

During this Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 22-25th) we were watching our backyard feeders and noticed a new bird feeding on the ground with our White-crowned Sparrows and others. We originally thought this to be a winter plumage Lapland Longspur, but after more research and help from Milt, we have decided he is a Harris's Sparrow. He was here all weekend, and is still around. During the weekend we counted about 30 different species just from our backyard, a good birding Thanksgiving (not including the turkey we ate).
