.Background:
I began birding at the age of 12 in 1995, and started photographing birds a
couple years later. In 2004 I purchased a digital SLR and began to spend
serious time photographing birds. While in college I worked as a Field
Biologist for the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory, conducting breeding bird
surveys in Wyoming. Currently I reside in Indianapolis, Indiana working as a
graphic/web designer. I have created several websites to host my
photographs, and to help promote
birding in Utah.
I believe that bird photography is a great way to further my hobby of
birding. I have even gone as far to call it "Birdtography". To me
birdtography is more than just taking pictures of birds. It is the
actual process from beginning to end. It starts before I ever pick up
the camera and start taking pictures. Birdtography encompasses the
entire effort involved in capturing a picture of a bird, or in that
case anything wild. Despite the fact that I focus on birds, I also
photograph other wild animals, plants, flowers, scenery, insects,
amphibians, and a variety of other things.
