Field Marks and
Identifying Characteristics:
Similar to an eclipse plumage Mallard,darker brown coloration overall, dull greenish yellow bill, no green whatsoever in the crown, no contrast in the brown tones of the breast and body, straight, mainly brown tail feathers, limited white on speculum.

Behavior: Friendly, probably gets fed here
Habitat: Water close to the shoreline
Similar species and how
were they eliminated:
Mallard: no green in head, darker brown body, straight brown tail, very limited contrast in breast and body, limited white on speculum.
Previous experience with
this & similar species:
Very familiar with this species from both southern AZ and Navajo and Coconino County AZ. Also found the first county record for Kane, UT last year at the same place and time frame. I'd guess this could even be the same individual.
