Field Marks and
Identifying Characteristics:
Heard a flock of Chickadees foraging in the tree tops, so I started trying to pish them out and look for tag-a-longs, then noticed a tiny warbler with them, noted its overall very pale lemon yellow upper parts and breast fading to a pale whitish yellow belly, and white undertail coverts. Also noted its very thin fine pointed bill and short tail, had a faint supercilium and eyeline but hard to see above us. Later an Audubon's Warbler and 2 Orange-crowned joined it, which made it harder to keep track of but offered direct comparisons with Orange-crowned which were brighter yellow, had grayish heads and longer tails. Watched them for some time and got excellent looks at both TEWA and OCWA.

Song or call & method of delivery: None heard
Behavior: Foraging in the top of an Elm
Habitat: Mixed of cultivated conifer and deciduous trees in a City park near a large pond
Similar species and how
were they eliminated:
Orange-crowned Warbler-very similar but always have yellow undertail coverts, overall more greenish yellow, often with a gray head in fall(depending on ssp.), a little larger and longer tailed. Direct comparison

Yellow Warbler(female)-larger and longer tailed, often brighter yellow(but variable), longer flatter bill, eyering

Warbling/Philadelphia Vireos-larger and longer tailed with bigger bill and more olive greenish color
Previous experience with
this & similar species:
Yes, many in Colombia, several in Texas, 1 in Mexico and my 4th in Utah. Countless OCWA,YEWA and WAVI
