Field Marks and
Identifying Characteristics:
Bird had a visible white eye ring and strong white wing bars. Belly was visibly yellow. Chest and throat whitish. Seen in profile, did not notice any grayish on upper chest. Bird was singing from the top of a snag and I was able to photograph and record video of the song.

Song or call & method of delivery: Two syllables, raspy. Emphasis on second syllable.

Behavior: Bird flew from south into the snag, sang for ~30-60 seconds, then flew back to the south
Habitat: Dense tree line adjacent to large grassy meadow. 100 yards from creek and reservoir.
Similar species and how
were they eliminated:
Willow and other empids. Was distinguished solely by the song.
Previous experience with
this & similar species:
I've previously seen Willow flycatchers in Pennsylvania, as well as many other empids.
