Very dark mantle, yellow legs, yellow bill with red gong deal on lower mandible, significant streaking around eye and down the back of the neck towards the mantle.

Bill Slater (6 October  2016) - [Boulge Reservoir] - Gray Jay. Very surprised, on my ATV, didn't have my camera. Definitely not Clark's Nutcracker. Light gray head with dark patch behind eye and a bit behind the head, stubby bill not at all large(long) and pointed like Clark's Nutcracker. Very tame, flew around me back and forth for several minutes. Had a more squarish tail, saw no white on it. Dark back all the way up to just behind back of neck. Did not fly off until I re-started my atv and began to move. It was very close to me, about five or six yards at times.

Brook O'Connor (28 October 2016) - [Ivie Creek Rest Area] - Williamson's Sapsucker. 1st year bird. Overall fine black and dusky barring with a dark smudge of bib in upper breast. Head brownish with hazy gray around bveye and face. It behaved like a young bird clinging to an upper trunk of a pinyon pine tree. It did not appear to have any yellow on its belly from what I could see, but the under belly was mostly hidden. I waited for some time but it didn't change position. There was no underside speckling as a flicker. Barring continued back side and underside. It was found just outside the rest area compound in the far back. Also, I first saw it moving up the trunk somewhat like a Brown Creeper would do, then it stopped and hugged the trunk and would not move.

George Webb (31 October 2016) - [Baker Reservoir] - Western Bluebird. One male and four females. Rather small and stocky thrush, smaller than the robin. Male had a bright blue head and wings--much darker blue than a Mt. Bluebird. Females were similar in color on the backs to a mt. bluebird, but had a drab orange belly. Feeding on mistletoe berries in junipers. Good looks at close range with 8.5x binoculars in good light.

Tim Avery (15 October 2016) - [Lytle Ranch] - Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. There were two 1st fall sapsuckers with no red on the nape. Both had extremely juvenile plumage--one bird had little to know obvious facial striping appearing, while the other had a bit of its adult plumage appearing on the cheek. Notably, both birds juvenile plumage on the nape and upper back was intact. Both birds showed a completely white throat, and a messy looking back accentuated by the juvenile plumage/tan color trailing into the white in the back bars.
