DAVIS COUNTY
Joel and Kathy Beyer - This afternoon, 3/22, we observed a male Eurasian Wigeon at Farmington Bay WMA. It was seen from the entrance road, south of the maintainence buildings, where it makes a 90-degree turn to the west.

Joel Beyer - There was a nice assortment of gulls at Farmington Bay WMA today (3/2). Along with numerous Herring Gulls and several Thayer's Gulls, the first winter Glaucous-winged Gull was still present, and there were three Glaucous Gulls (one adult and two first winter). All were seen at or between the first and second bridges along the west dike, on both sides.

JUAB COUNTY

Lu Giddings - (Sunday, March 02, 2003)  A Black Scoter was observed in the inlet immediately behind the dam at Mona Reservoir today between 3:00 - 3:30 p.m. It was viewed from a distance of about 225 yards with a 20x60 power spotting scope under nearly ideal atmospheric conditions. It had the characteristic black slightly hooked bill with a large bright orange-yellow bump on the upper bill. ...

Jack.Torrey and Glenda Cotter - (Mon, 3 Mar 2003) For two years in a row we've found Pinyon Jays in the exact same location while driving down to the Snow Goose Festival in Delta. Going west from Nephi on Highway 132, after you drive across the valley and enter the first mountain pass, the north side of the road changes from dead trees to live pinyon. About halfway up on the right under the power poles there was a small (~12) flock of jays.

MILLARD COUNTY

David Allan -(Gunnison Bend Reservoir, near Delta, Millard Co., Sunday, 3/9)  It was a beautiful day for birding, or just being out of doors, after being stuck in the office for seven loonnngggg days straight... The highlight of my day was a Gray Catbird. It was feeding on Russian Olives in the same area that the Black Phoebe has been reported. I was watching the Phoebe when I noticed the Catbird. This was the first Catbird I have observed in Millard Co...

David Allan -  (Fri, 28 Feb 2003)  I watched a pair (male & female) of Hooded Merganser from 4:30 p.m. until
after 5:00 today (2/28) at Gunnison Bend Reservoir (site of the Snow Goose Festival currently underway) near Delta, Utah...

SALT LAKE COUNTY

Dana Green - (Sat, 1 Mar 2003)  I saw a Winter Wren just above picnic area 4 in City Creek Canyon about 1pm today. It is about the last place you can see the stream from the road as you come down toward picnic area 4. It was on an uprooted stump where the stream twists and narrows and starts a mini waterfall.

TOOELE COUNTY

Reed Stone - (Fri, 14 Mar 2003)  Yesterday about 11:30 Kay and I were at Clover Springs, west of Rush Valley and were privileged to watch a Juniper Titmouse harass and monitor a Northern Pigmy Owl. The Owl was perched about 15 feet over our heads and we watched the "show" for about 8 minutes...

UTAH COUNTY

Mark Stackhouse - (Fri, 14 Mar 2003) ... Anyway, we did see a couple of good birds around the Provo Airport dike road - several Sage Sparrows along the west side, about 300 meters north of the southwest corner. One was very cooperative, and offered some extended looks at close range. We also saw an immature Northern Goshawk in the trees at the eastern corner of where the south extension heads south - it flew off to the east, and was last seen soaring over Springville.

KC Childs -  (Tue, 11 Mar 2003)  There was a Harris's Sparrow this afternoon at four at Camelot Woods in Utah County. It was in the area where there are large pile of dead trees and trunks. It was near the last pile. Which was furthest west. It was close to the reeds. It was on the north side of the property. It was with a massive flock of White Crowned Sparrows. They were quite entertaining to watch...

Reed Stone - ... I birded my way to the "Secret Pond" north west of Goshen. It was 10:40 AM. There were five Trumpeter Swan on the pond...

WASATCH COUNTY

Bob Huntington - (Wed, 19 Mar 2003)   I was in Midway today so I went by Deer Creek Res. to see if the loons are in yet. They are! I seen one male (Common Loon) on the far side of the pond at the Island camp site. Spring is trying hard to be here...

WASHINGTON COUNTY

Rick Fridell -  ... This afternoon (3/14 @ 3:45 pm), I received a call from Bob Bradley and Tony Jones, who found a Vermilion Flycatcher at the corner of SR-9 and 3700 West in the Brentwood area (Washington Co.) 3700 West is the road leading to Stratton Pond. The Flycatcher was observed on the small Brentwood RV Golf course area...

Larry Tripp - (Wed, 12 Mar 2003)   Tonight after work I walked along the Virgin River Parkway from the parking
lot that is along the South side of I 15 just west of Bluff street in St. George. About 50 yards past the confluence of the Santa Clara river and the Virgin river along the bike path there was a Golden-crowned Sparrow in with a flock of 15 or so White-crowned Sparrows. It was about 30 minutes before the sundown.

Larry Tripp - (Sun, 09 Mar 2003)  Today was a fabulous day to be out birding at Zion. ... Also I had one maybe two Rufous-crowned Sparrows on the sand bench trail which was a first in Utah for me. They are much paler then the coastal race that I'm used to seeing. Also at Springdale pond there is still a Yellow-shafted Flicker that looks like a pure bird not a hybrid that I first saw there about a month ago.

Larry Tripp -  (Mon, 3 Mar 2003)  Hello all, I went to Lytle today and the wintering Yellow-bellied Sapsucker is still there at the beginning of the orchard...

WEBER COUNTY

Kristin Purdy - (Mon, 10 Mar 2003)  The three Trumpeter Swans Keith Evans and Jack Rensel saw at Pineview Reservoir last week were still there yesterday afternoon around 1230. I saw them at the southeast end where the South Fork of the Ogden River empties into the reservoir...

Joel and Kathy Beyer - This afternoon, 3/22...  Further afield, a Lewis' Woodpecker was seen in Pleasant View, at the north end of 900 West, near Pole Patch Estates. It was on the fifth telephone pole south of the Pole Patch Estates gated entrance. This is the third time this year we've seen the woodpecker on this particular pole.
